Extinct Wormy Chestnut Pen Blanks, 10, 25 & 50 pcs. per pack
Extinct Wormy Chestnut Pen Blanks, 3/4" x 3/4" x 5", 10, 25 or 50 piece pack. This wood became extinct back in the 1930s due to the chestnut blight that wiped out all the Chestnut trees except for a few very small isolated pockets of land. These blanks have a variety all their own. Blanks will vary as to the number of worm holes, ranging from none to several. This was the wood of choice for generations of people and was known as the "Redwood of the East Coast" due to its tendency to be very large in diameter when it was growing in the forest. It has a strong oak grain being in the oak family, but works wonderfully with all tooling. It can burn easily when sawn. It also is a light weight wood as compared to others domestic species like walnut, red oak, cherry or white oak. Get these blanks and make some rare pen designs from some very rare wood!
